Messages may be a quick and simple method of communication, but there is no guarantee of delivery 100% of the time. There is also no guarantee that the recipient has read the message. Consider using a different means of communication when the message is urgent or the outcome is time restricted. You should also note that messages are not backed up and therefore if you receive a new mobile phone, all messages will be lost.
It may look like these messages are being sent as text messages. However, when both sides of the conversation have Android phones with the chat function switched on (its on by default) they actually use the Android Chat function This feature can be switched off it is causing issues. If you do switch it off you should refrain from sending picture messages as these result in a charge for each picture sent. Consider sending the pictures as a message in Microsoft Teams or via email.
Why can’t I see text messages when my phone is locked?
All Key and Lifestyles mobile phones are set up to hide potentially sensitive information on the lock screen. Should you receive a text you will be shown the text/messaging banner to let you know you have at least one message.
- Unlock your phone and go into your message to view them.
THIS SETTING SHOULD NOT BE ALTERED. If you lose your phone and sensitive/personal information is show on the lock screen Key/Lifestyles would have to report a data breach to the Information Commissioners Office and could face a monetary fine.
How do I send a text message?
Click the ‘Messages’ app icon.
Click the ‘Start Chat’ button.
Type a phone number or begin typing a name to display a list of matches from your contacts.
Click and type your message in the ‘Text/Chat Message’ box.- Click the ‘Send’ icon.
How do I reply to a text message?
Click on the message you want to reply to.
Click in the ‘Text message’ box and type your message.- Click the ‘Paper Plane/SMS’ icon to send the message.
How do I delete a text message?
Press on the text to be deleted and hold you finger down for 1-2 seconds. When you lift your finger the message will be selected (it will change colour).
Select other texts by clicking on them. The number of selected texts will be shown in the top left hand corner.- Click the ‘Delete’ icon in the top right hand corner.
Click ‘Delete’ to confirm.
How do I delete a full text conversation?
To delete all messages from one person:
Press on the conversation to be deleted and hold you finger down for 1-2 seconds.- Select other conversations by clicking on them. Selected conversations have a tick at the left hand side and the total number selected will be shown in the top right hand corner.
