How can I check my data connection is working?
There are many things which would make it seem like you don’t have a data connection. The easiest and quickest way to check if you have a connection to start the Safari or Edge app and go to any web page. If the web page displays, you have an active connection.
Why is my data connection not functioning?
If your data connection is not working there are various things you should check.
Method One:
- Restart your phone.

- Check your data/WiFi connections are enabled following the instructions on the previous page.
Method Three: Airplane mode
- Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to display the control centre.
- Click to switch on ‘Airplane’ mode.
- Wait a few seconds, your data connections should disconnect.
- Switch off ‘Airplane’ mode.
Your phone should automatically connect to the mobile/WiFi networks.
How do I reset my network settings?
If you are having issues with your data or WiFi connections you can reset the network settings. Only follow these instructions if instructed by a member of the ICT department.
- Open the ‘Settings’ app.
- Click ‘General’.
- Click ‘Transfer or Reset iPhone’.
- Click ‘Reset’.
- Click ‘Reset Network Settings’.
- Enter your passcode.
- Click ‘Reset Network Settings’.
- Wait while your phone restarts.
You will need to reconnect to any previous WiFi networks by re-entering the password. Key WiFi networks will automatically connect while in range.
