Messages may be a quick and simple method of communication, but there is no guarantee of delivery 100% of the time. There is also no guarantee that the recipient has read the message. Consider using a different means of communication when the message is urgent or the outcome is time restricted.
It may look like these messages are being sent as text messages. However, when both sides of the conversation have iPhones and a data connection they are sent as iMessages.
When you open a chat conversation, the text bar at the bottom of the screen (where you type your message) will show either:
- iMessage or
- text message.
Once sent:
- iMessages will appear in blue speech bubble.
- Text messages will appear in green speech bubble.
If you have any unread messages waiting the ‘Messages’ app icon will indicate the number in the top right hand corner of the icon.
