How do I fix audio issues in Teams?

1. Ensure any speakers/headphones are plugged in BEFORE logging into the VDI.

  1. Logout the VDI.
  2. Plug in the headphones/speakers.
  3. Log back in.

Follow the instructions in the "How do I check my equipment is working?" section.  Teams will check your camera, microphone and speakers.

2. Check the volume is not either muted or low. Remember this must be done within the VDI and on your PC.

If the sound device is muted, the icon in the taskbar will have display a cross.

  1. Audio muted on the PCClick the ‘Volume’ icon.
  2. Drag the volume bar to the left or right to decrease/increase the volume.
  3. Minimise your VDI window and follow steps 1 and 2 again on your PC.

3. Troubleshoot:

  1. On your PC (not within the VDI), right click on the ‘Volume’ icon.
  2. Troubleshoot sound problemsClick ‘Troubleshoot sound problems’ and follow the prompts.
  3. Log out and back in the VDI (if you are using ‘Teams’ on the VDI).

4. Privacy Settings:

Check that Teams has permissions to use the camera and microphone.

  1. Camera privacy settingsClick the ‘Start’ button.
  2. Type ‘Camera’.
  3. In Settings, click ‘Camera Privacy Settings’.
  4. Access to camera in privacy settings for TeamsEnsure ‘Let apps access the camera’ option is switched on.
  5. Check Microsoft Teams has camera permissions enabled.
  6. Follow these instructions again, this time, searching for Microphone in step 2.
