How do I fix data and WiFi problems?

The easiest and quickest way to check if you have a connection to start the Safari or Edge app and go to any web page. If the web page displays, you have an active connection.  If there is an issue there are various things you can try.

One:

  1. Restart your phone.

Two:

  1. WiFi and Data icons in the control centreCheck Wifi (1) and mobile data (2) are both enabled.
  2. If the icons shown are coloured grey - they are off, click to switch them on.

Three:

  1. airplane mode in control centreSwipe up from the bottom of your screen (iPhone SE) or down from the top right (iPhone 13) to display the control centre.
  2. Click to switch on ‘Airplane’ mode.
  3. Wait a few seconds, your data connections should disconnect.
  4. Switch ‘Airplane’ mode back off.
    Your phone should automatically connect to the mobile/WiFi networks.

Four:

If you are having issues with your data or WiFi connections you can reset the network settings. Only follow these instructions if instructed by a member of the ICT department.

  1. Settings app on iPhoneOpen the ‘Settings’ app.

  3. Transfer or Reset iPhone option in settingsClick ‘Transfer or Reset iPhone’.

  6. Enter passcode screen on iPhoneEnter your passcode.

  8. Wait while your phone restarts.

You will need to reconnect to any previous WiFi networks by re-entering the password. Key WiFi networks will automatically connect while in range.
