If a shared mobile phone has been provided it should be used for business purposes only. Primarily the use of messaging, making calls, checking work email and taking part in video conferencing using Microsoft Teams.
Remember messages are not guaranteed to be delivered/read. If your matter is urgent/time critical think about using a different form of communication.
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive about the Key provided Android phones.
Before you begin using the phone you should remember:
- NO settings should be altered.
- The camera should be used for business purposes only. Remember GDPR applies to images as well as text. Delete the images when they are no longer required
- No apps should be downloaded to the phone. Only corporate approved apps can be used to ensure we comply with GDPR.
- Phone lock code. Each time you use your phone you will need to enter your passcode. Do not store a note of your passcode with the phone. If you lose your phone and the passcode is stored with the phone, information on it can be accessed by anyone. The ICO would have to be notified of this possible data breach.
- On your lock screen you will be shown messaging notifications but the full message will not be displayed. Unlock your phone to view the message. Should you lose your phone and the full notification be displayed, sensitive/personal information may be displayed. Depending on the information displayed, this could be considered a data breach and have to be reported to the ICO
- When you receive your phone a cover will have been provided. You can change this if you wish, at your own expense, but it must remain protected by a cover/case. You may be charged for damage to the equipment if the cover has been removed.
